Publication Ethics

International Journal of Agriculture, Food and Innovation – MIYR (IJAFI-MIYR)

The International Journal of Agriculture, Food and Innovation – MIYR (IJAFI-MIYR) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical publishing and research integrity. The journal follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and supports internationally accepted principles of transparency, fairness, accountability, and responsible scholarly publishing.

All participants in the publication process—including authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher—are expected to uphold the ethical standards outlined below.

1. Editorial Responsibilities

The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board are responsible for ensuring that all editorial decisions are based solely on the scholarly merit of submitted manuscripts.

Editors shall:

  • evaluate manuscripts objectively, regardless of the authors' nationality, ethnicity, gender, institutional affiliation, political views, or religious beliefs;
  • make publication decisions based on originality, scientific quality, methodological rigor, significance, and relevance to the journal's scope;
  • ensure that every manuscript undergoes a fair and unbiased double-blind peer review process;
  • preserve the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities;
  • avoid conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where personal, financial, or professional relationships could influence editorial judgment;
  • investigate allegations of research misconduct, publication malpractice, or ethical violations following COPE recommendations;
  • publish corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions whenever necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

Editors will not use unpublished information obtained during the editorial process for personal research or personal advantage.

2. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Peer reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the scientific quality of the journal.

Reviewers are expected to:

  • provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based evaluations;
  • complete reviews within the agreed timeframe;
  • maintain strict confidentiality regarding all manuscripts received for review;
  • disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest before accepting a review invitation;
  • decline review assignments if they lack sufficient expertise or cannot provide an impartial assessment;
  • identify relevant published literature that has not been cited;
  • report suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, image manipulation, data fabrication, or other forms of research misconduct to the editors.

Reviewers must not use unpublished data or ideas obtained through peer review for personal benefit.

3. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts meet the highest standards of research integrity.

Authors must:

  • submit only original work that has not been published or submitted elsewhere;
  • accurately present research methods, data, analyses, and conclusions without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate manipulation;
  • appropriately acknowledge the work of others through proper citation;
  • obtain permission for any copyrighted material used in the manuscript;
  • ensure that all listed authors have made substantial scholarly contributions and approve the final version before submission;
  • identify one corresponding author responsible for communication with the journal;
  • disclose all sources of research funding and any potential conflicts of interest;
  • promptly notify the journal if significant errors are discovered after publication.

Duplicate publication, redundant publication, plagiarism, self-plagiarism, citation manipulation, and data falsification are considered serious ethical violations and may result in rejection or retraction.

4. Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, animals, biological materials, or environmentally sensitive activities must comply with applicable institutional, national, and international ethical standards.

Authors should provide evidence, where appropriate, that:

  • ethical approval was obtained from the relevant review board or ethics committee;
  • informed consent was obtained from human participants;
  • animal studies followed internationally accepted animal welfare guidelines;
  • agricultural field studies complied with national regulations and environmental protection requirements.

Research involving genetically modified organisms (GMOs), biotechnology, food safety, or hazardous materials should comply with all applicable legal and institutional requirements.

5. Data Integrity and Availability

Authors are expected to retain original research data and provide access when requested during editorial review.

Where appropriate, authors are encouraged to deposit datasets in recognized public repositories or provide a Data Availability Statement describing how supporting data can be accessed.

The journal supports transparency and reproducibility in agricultural and food science research.

6. Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial intelligence tools may be used only to improve language, grammar, or formatting.

Authors remain fully responsible for:

  • the originality of the manuscript;
  • the accuracy of all data and interpretations;
  • proper citation of all sources;
  • compliance with ethical publishing standards.

AI systems cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for published work.

7. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the publication process.

Where conflicts of interest exist, the Editorial Office will take appropriate measures to ensure an impartial review and editorial decision.

8. Plagiarism and Publication Misconduct

IJAFI-MIYR maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward publication misconduct.

This includes:

  • plagiarism;
  • self-plagiarism;
  • duplicate submission;
  • redundant publication;
  • fabricated or falsified data;
  • manipulated images;
  • inappropriate authorship;
  • citation manipulation;
  • unethical use of artificial intelligence.

Submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism-detection software before peer review.

When misconduct is confirmed, the journal may reject the manuscript, publish a correction, issue an Expression of Concern, retract the article, and notify the relevant institutions where appropriate.

9. Corrections and Retractions

The journal is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.

If significant errors or ethical concerns are identified after publication, the journal may publish:

  • Corrections (Erratum or Corrigendum)
  • Expressions of Concern
