Publication Ethics

The International Journal of Social Science and Humanities Research – MIYR (IJSSHR-MIYR) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, research ethics, transparency, and responsible scholarly publishing. All submissions are subject to the policies outlined below.

The journal follows internationally recognized principles of publication ethics, including relevant guidelines and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Authorship Policy

Criteria for Authorship

Only individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research should be listed as authors. Such contributions may include:

  • Conceptualization and design of the study
  • Methodology development
  • Data collection or acquisition
  • Data analysis and interpretation
  • Drafting the manuscript
  • Substantive revision of the manuscript

Individuals who contribute to the research but do not meet appropriate authorship criteria should be acknowledged where appropriate.

Approval and Accountability

  • All authors must approve the final manuscript before submission.
  • All authors are responsible for the integrity and accuracy of their contributions.
  • Authors must ensure that the submitted work complies with applicable ethical and publication standards.

Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • Managing communication with the editorial office.
  • Confirming that all co-authors have approved the manuscript and its submission.
  • Providing accurate author, affiliation, and contact information.
  • Communicating editorial decisions and requests to all co-authors.

Author Contributions

Authors may be required to provide a statement describing their individual contributions to the research and manuscript. Contribution statements may be published alongside the article for transparency.

Use of AI Tools

AI-assisted tools may be used for appropriate purposes such as language improvement, grammar checking, translation, formatting, or minor technical assistance.

AI tools must not be listed as authors.

Any substantive use of generative AI for generating text, analysis, interpretation, data processing, or other intellectual contributions must be appropriately disclosed in the manuscript.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their work, including content produced or assisted by AI tools.

2. Conflict of Interest (COI) Policy

Authors

Authors must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest, including financial, personal, professional, institutional, or other relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation.

Editors and Reviewers

Editors and reviewers must disclose potential conflicts of interest involving authors, institutions, funding sources, or the subject matter of the manuscript.

Individuals with significant conflicts of interest must recuse themselves from handling or reviewing the manuscript.

Transparency and Editorial Independence

Disclosed conflicts of interest may be published alongside the article where appropriate.

Editors must not handle their own manuscripts. Manuscripts submitted by the Editor-in-Chief or members of the Editorial Board are assigned to an independent editor who oversees the review and decision-making process.

Editorial decisions are based on the academic quality, originality, relevance, methodological rigor, and ethical compliance of manuscripts and are not influenced by commercial, financial, institutional, or personal interests.

3. Research Ethics

Ethical Approval

Research involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical standards and, where required, receive approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB), Research Ethics Committee, or equivalent ethics body.

Evidence of ethical approval may be requested by the journal.

Informed Consent and Privacy

Where applicable, authors must obtain appropriate informed consent from research participants.

Authors must protect participants' privacy, anonymity, and confidentiality. Personally identifiable information must not be published without appropriate consent.

Clinical Trials and Experimental Studies

Where applicable, prospective registration of clinical trials and relevant experimental studies in a recognized registry is strongly encouraged and may be required depending on the nature of the study.

Where registration has been conducted or is required, the registry name and registration identifier must be reported in the manuscript.

Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for accurately reporting all relevant ethical considerations and must comply with applicable national and international research ethics standards.

The journal follows relevant COPE recommendations and internationally recognized research ethics principles.

4. Retractions and Corrections Policy

The journal is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.

Addenda

Addenda may be published when additional information is necessary to clarify or complete the published record. Addenda are linked to the original publication where appropriate.

Errata

Errata may be issued for errors introduced during the editorial or production process.

Corrigenda

Corrigenda may be issued for substantive errors identified or introduced by the authors.

Retractions

An article may be retracted when serious ethical, legal, or scholarly issues affect the reliability or integrity of the published work, including:

  • Plagiarism
  • Duplicate or redundant publication
  • Data fabrication or falsification
  • Serious research misconduct
  • Major undisclosed conflicts of interest
  • Serious ethical violations
  • Significant errors that invalidate the main findings

Retraction notices will clearly state the reason for the retraction and will remain permanently linked to the original article to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

Corrections and retractions are handled in accordance with relevant COPE guidelines.

5. Plagiarism and Research Integrity

All submitted manuscripts may be screened using an appropriate similarity-detection system, such as Turnitin or iThenticate.

Similarity reports are used as a screening and editorial assessment tool and do not by themselves determine whether plagiarism has occurred.

Editors consider the nature, source, context, and extent of similarities when assessing a manuscript.

The journal does not tolerate:

  • Plagiarism
  • Inappropriate text recycling or self-plagiarism
  • Duplicate or redundant publication
  • Fabrication or falsification of data
  • Manipulation or inappropriate presentation of research results
  • Unethical research practices
  • Improper authorship
  • Undisclosed authorship changes
  • Other forms of academic or publication misconduct

Proper citation and acknowledgment of all sources are mandatory.

Suspected research or publication misconduct may be investigated in accordance with relevant COPE guidelines and established research integrity practices.

6. Peer Review Ethics

IJSSHR-MIYR operates a double-blind peer review process.

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, and confidentially.
  • Assess manuscripts based on their academic quality, relevance, originality, methodology, and contribution.
  • Identify relevant published work where appropriate.
  • Disclose any potential conflict of interest.
  • Decline a review assignment when they lack appropriate expertise or have a significant conflict of interest.
  • Not use unpublished information obtained through peer review for personal or professional advantage.
  • Not disclose manuscript contents or communicate directly with authors regarding the manuscript unless authorized by the editorial office.

Editors and reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts throughout the review process.

7. Confidentiality

Editors, reviewers, and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and related information.

Manuscripts, unpublished research findings, and other confidential information obtained during the editorial and peer review process must not be shared, used, or disclosed without appropriate authorization.

8. Complaints, Appeals, and Ethical Concerns

Authors may contact the editorial office regarding:

  • Editorial decisions
  • Peer review concerns
  • Authorship disputes
  • Conflicts of interest
  • Research ethics concerns
  • Allegations of publication misconduct

The journal will review complaints and appeals fairly, objectively, and confidentially.

Where appropriate, the journal may follow relevant COPE recommendations when addressing ethical concerns, complaints, or disputes.

9. Ethical Oversight and Transparency

IJSSHR-MIYR is committed to transparent and responsible editorial practices.

The journal may request additional information or documentation necessary to evaluate the integrity of a manuscript, including:

  • Ethical approval documentation
  • Informed consent information
  • Research data or methodological clarification
  • Authorship information
  • Conflict of interest disclosures
  • Funding information
  • Evidence concerning research or publication integrity

Where ethical, legal, or research integrity concerns arise, the journal may take appropriate editorial action, including rejection, correction, expression of concern, or retraction.

The journal's policies are applied consistently and independently of authors' nationality, institutional affiliation, academic position, or ability to pay publication fees.
